Eligibility
This event open to hackers, all over the world, who are students at the time of the hackathon or who have graduated within the last 12 months. Students can include high school students, university undergraduate or postgraduate students, and people who are in vocational training such as apprenticeships.
As per our Code of Conduct, there is no discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, social class, economic status, veteran status, disability, or age.
Requirements
- We require all teams to submit a 2 minute or less demo video.
- Your video must be created the weekend of the hackathon.
- Your code must be available in some sort of public repository.
- If you're continuing work on an old project, you MUST specify in your Devpost what was worked on 1) before the hackathon and 2) during the hackathon.

Emerging Heroes Hack
This is for the newbies, we're looking for the rookie heroes taking the lead and swooping in to save the world. Together they embark on winning this category under the guidance of experienced superheroes. It's their turn to take the legacy forward. The team made up of at least 50% first-time hackers with our favorite project will take home Arduino Starter Kits, Hero Capes and MLH Swag.
Hometown Hero Hack
This weekend the most innovative hack that helps your local community and saves it from the villains wins Echo Dots, Hero Capes and MLH Swag. It's time for the hometown heroes to buckle up, don their capes and build something awesome!
Best Hardware Hack presented by Digi-Key

Using your preferred hardware or hardware emulator, build a hack for your chance to win a Grove Beginner Kit, with Arduino Uno R3 included. We select two winning teams for this category. Each winning team member will receive a prize!
Best Domain Name from Domain.com
Register a domain using Domain.com during the weekend. Each team may submit one entry per person on the team. Each winning team member will receive a Domain.com branded backpack.

Most Creative Radar.io Hack
Build the most creative hack using Radar's SDKs and APIs for geofencing, location search, and geocoding. Some ideas for location-aware projects include a delivery tracker, campus building locator, and a Find my Friends clone. Winning team members will be eligible to win a Tile Sticker Smart Tracker and a chance to be featured by Radar.
